The week before and after the Fourth of July are the worst in both price and crowds.<\/li>\n<li><b>Avoid hotels \u2013 <\/b>Find an apartment or home rental (including beach rentals) for the less than the cost of a hotel room on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/Rentals\">TripAdvisorVR<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbnb.com\/\">AirBnb<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.homeaway.com\/\">HomeAway<\/a>. Check reviews before reserving accommodations. If you\u2019re off the beaten path, look for small inns and B&amp;Bs along your route.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Eat where the locals eat \u2013<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">B<\/span>ring food from home or drop into a grocery store to save up to $50 a day on breakfast. If you\u2019re in a city, find the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailymeal.com\/101-best-food-trucks-america\">best food trucks<\/a> for lunch, but check with the locals because food trucks come and go.
